Voters in need of a free ride to their polling place on Election Day can turn to the MTA.

The Maryland Transit Administration is offering free rides on its core service of bus lines, Metro Subway and Light Rail trains, as well as the Mobility paratransit service on Election Day while polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

"Every citizen who wants to exercise their fundamental right to vote should have easy access to the polls," MTA Administrator Holly Arnold said in a statement. "This Election Day, for the first time, the Maryland Transit Administration is proud to offer free rides to help make the voting process more accessible for everyone."

To plan a trip using bus or rail, customers can use the free Transit app or visit the MTA's website. The Transit app provides real-time schedules, predicted arrival times, service alerts and detailed step-by-step navigation.

Customers also can call the Transit Information Contact Center at 410-5395-5000. Certified mobility riders can contact the Mobility Call Center reservation line at 410-764-8181 or use the MTA's Mobility website.
