Tow truck lighting bill signed into law | Local News | advantagenews.com

Tow truck drivers and other emergency vehicles in the state can now add more lighting to their rigs. A bill signed into law by the governor recently allows green lighting along with amber and white lights when responding to incidents on the roadway. The legislation was introduced following the death of a tow truck driver on I-255 near Columbia last November.

Wade Bivens of Dupo was struck by a car while assisting another motorist. The new bill was spearheaded by State Representative Amy Elik of Alton who says it allows more than just tow truck drivers to add the lights:

State Senator Erica Harriss of Glen Carbon was the lead sponsor in the Illinois Senate.
